I am invested in helping you identify your pain and joyful points in areas including trauma; stress, anxiety, depression and mood swings; grief and loss; racial/cultural identity; family of origin/relationship; and self-esteem/self-worth, and life transitions. I provide individual, couples and family therapy. My goal is to help you build and strengthen your own unique toolkit to practice so you may enjoy a more wholesome and authentic lifestyle. We will explore the story of your challenges and difficulties, how they have transitioned/changed over time, how they manifest in your life today and how to navigate with them moving forward. We will explore how to hold your strengths and vulnerabilities, celebrate your triumphs, and share a space where risks and mistakes can be empowering. My goal is to show you that second chances, recovery, reconnection and resilience are possible. I believe that my well-rounded, international, multicultural, and well-informed personal and professional background can help you explore different parts of yourself.

I am a first-generation immigrant, AAPI, Taiwanese, bilingual and multicultural Psychotherapist. Traveling independently for educational purposes has been both a privilege as well as a hardship. I have lived and studied in Taiwan, Malaysia, China, UK, Singapore, France, and now the US! I hold an Ed.M. in Mental Health Counseling and an M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. I am Narcan certified. I have also received a credential of Diagnostic Privilege. I have extensive experience working in various settings at different capacities, including at a couples research lab, psychiatric inpatient unit, intensive rehabilitation and recovery outpatient program, and a community clinic. In addition to being a Bilingual Psychotherapist, I have held different roles, including Clinical Supervisor, Presenter and Researcher (published on Emotional Pain Mediates the Link Between Preoccupied Attachment and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury in High Suicide Risk Psychiatric Inpatients; and Construal Level and Conflict Resolution in Romantic Relationships), Advocate, and Volunteer. I also collaborated with the Soar Over Hate organization on their “Heal from Hate” Project and was invited as a Guest Speaker at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to educate about the impact of racial trauma in the recent epidemic in xenophobia on mental and physical health. Prior to the mental health field journey, I was invested in Political Science and Public Policy. I held roles within the United Nations in collaboration with development and leadership programs and non-governmental organizations, to address empowerment and advocacy in various sectors for the underserved and underrepresented population. I was privileged to attend global summits in which various international ambassadors and expertise in their field engaged in inspiring and passionate debates and dialogues. These experiences have helped to provide a more in-depth lens in exploring and navigating nuances of misunderstood and marginalized identities.

My passion is in healing work with intergenerational and intercultural trauma, family-of-origin pain, relationships with a narcissistic or borderline loved one, grief and loss, and different parts of your identities that may feel abandoned/rejected and conflicted. My style is holistic, direct, nurturing. I will challenge you in a loving and curious way, and hold you accountable. I will encourage play and experimentation to help empower you in creative ways. We will engage in deep introspective work as well as practical skills. I have learned what it means to create a safe space for myself; hold feelings of self-doubt and insecurity; work through confusion, mistakes, uncontrollable forces and change; practice being accommodating and assertive; and be self-sufficient and ask for support. I understand the significance of duality. I am constantly inspired by people from different walks of life and embrace the opportunity to learn about diverse worldviews. I am affirming and culturally responsive. I strongly believe that we can contribute to one another's growth as we are all works in progress! I integrate Psychodynamic Therapy, Parts Work, Trauma-informed work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. Other specialties include Somatic and Mindfulness interventions, and Sandplay Therapy, so if you've tried traditional talk therapy and would like to discover more, please reach out! I offer a complimentary 15-min phone consultation to experience our fit!

Eileen was my therapist during my hardest time in college as I went through what felt like conflicting identities at the time, and alienated from my culture and emotionally unaware parents. I can't imagine having gone through these transitions without her. I am proud of myself today. Eileen helped me explore all my nuances and uniqueness, grief parts of myself and and losses that were my choice and out of my control, and question the labels of good/bad, positive/negative. She also knew when to call me out when I wasn't being honest and intentional with myself. She provided a safe space from which I could take risks and make mistakes and learn from them.

My partner and I were in Couples Therapy with Eileen. Both of us have serious childhood and relationship traumas. We would have given up and chosen to be alone if not for Eileen. She helped us learn and build a love language, follow through with boundaries, identify urges that are helpful and not helpful, and listen and respect when the other person does not have capacity. I have learned to shut down less and he has learned to be less defensive and aggressive.

I was in family therapy with my son. We have different values and lifestyle choices and we were constantly arguing and eventually became estranged. Eileen helped us find commonality, kindness and tolerance and I am very grateful. I would recommend her to anyone wishing to work on connection and safety, and a relationship based on staying curious, responsive and patient with one another.

Individual sessions are $220 for 45-50 mins. Couples and Family sessions are $280 for 60 mins and $340 for 75 mins. I accept cash, credit card and FSA/HSA. I understand when certain self-care practices may be difficult due to financial hardship. I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. Please reach out for more information.

I do not accept insurance, as I am not an “in-network” provider. Please check your insurance coverage carefully to see if you receive out-of-network benefits. “Out-of-network” mental health services may be covered in part or in full by your health insurance plan. The following questions could help guide your conversation with your provider:

  • Do I have "out-of-network" mental health insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What is my "co-insurance"?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care doctor?

In instances where out-of-network benefits are covered, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service and your insurance will reimburse your expenses. I can provide monthly superbills for you to submit to your insurance provider.

Yes! This may be preferable as it allows for more freedom and privacy. There are implications of using insurance. Insurance companies mandate a diagnosis, oversee your health records, and may seek access to your information while in therapy. They also may limit your coverage to a set number of therapy sessions per year, regardless of what you are going through. You may also be limited to in-network providers which can restrict your chances of finding the right fit for you. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.

We will meet weekly. We will work together to find a time that fits with your schedule. Consistent weekly attendance is highly beneficial for our therapeutic journey and relationship and for your wellbeing. Through time and process, we may discuss and adjust the frequency of our session if appropriate.

There is no set timeline for our work together. We can assess, re-assess and adjust our goals and process throughout our journey, until we are ready and/or comfortable to celebrate the end of our work together! This can be an ongoing conversation.

There is a 48-hour full-fee reschedule and cancellation policy with exceptions in cases of true emergencies or true illness. In the event that you cancel without an emergency and within 48 hours, you will be charged a full session fee. Each time slot is reserved specially for you. We can transition from an in-person to virtual session for the day’s appointment if you are unable to attend in-person.

It is natural to experience these feelings! I hope to have the privilege to navigate this space with you at a pace that is nurturing and empowering for you. You can reach out to schedule a free 15-min phone consultation. This opportunity will allow us to discuss your needs, wants and hopes for therapy and address any questions and/or concerns you may have about my work and the process. We may then schedule an intake, so that I can learn more about you and your concerns, goals and expectations, and we can determine if we feel aligned to begin this meaningful work together.
